Audrey Hepburn’s Clothes To Be Auctioned Off

It’s like a dream come true. Audrey Hepburn has always been one of my favorite style icons, and now some of her clothes from The Audrey Hepburn collection will be auctioned off. Many of the clothes come from famous movies, like this Givenchy Haute Couture ball gown worn in the opera scene of “Love in the Afternoon,” while others come from her personal life. In fact, the sale’s final item is a wedding dress that Hepburn never wore because she broke off her engagement to an English aristocrat in 1952. Instead, she told designers to give it to “the most beautiful, poor Italian girl you can find.” The dress was then worn by a peasant girl and has been wrapped in paper for decades before now being offered for sale. The auction “Passion for Fashion” takes place in London on Dec. 8, and true to Audrey Hepburn’s humanitarian nature, the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund will receive 50% of the net sale from the auction. Isn’t she just loverly?
