Lingerie Diva recently created a lingerie forum called Garter Gab for the lingerie community to discuss their favorite lingerie-related topics. Divided into three parts—lingerie gab, lingerie needs and the lingerie industry—the Garter Gab forum has a place for everyone to discuss their most important lingerie issues, whether it’s where to find a nursing bra, how to put on a corset, or how to design a bustier. For future reference, Style[ology] has a permanent link to the forum under “Favorite Sites”. Happy gabbing!

Oscar night is always an exciting treat for fashion lovers like ourselves. It’s one of the few nights a year where we get to swoon over elegant gowns and cover our eyes when a not-so-elegant one enters the screen. While I normally opt for big flowy gowns, this was certainly the year of long, lacy nude and white gowns. And I liked it! I have only one concern: the intimates. One might ask how do you wear undergarments with those tightly-fitted, almost-see-through numbers. Of course, there’s always the option of going sans undies. But there’s also the option of wearing the up-and-coming Nippies. I’ve written about these sparkly pasties that come in all kinds of inventive star and heart shapes before, but the same company, Bristol 6, recently came out with Nippies Natural, which are a bit bigger and come in simply a nude color. If Sandra didn’t use them already, Nippies are certainly something to think about for many future lacy, backless gowns to come.

After the Fall/Winter 2010 Fashion Week, I can say that the lingerie as outerwear trend is definitely hear to stay. Many lingerie retailers believe that this trend has a direct correlation with the rise in popularity of pasties and nipple tassels. According to a Wickedelic press release, their nipple cover sales have gone up 20 percent in the last couple of months because of stars like Rihanna and Lady Gaga sporting the nipple covers with see-through tops and lingerie-type garments. Follow the trend by getting a pair yourself. You can get some pasties with tassels for some extra fun in the bedroom, or you can simply get the ever-so-popular Nippies to wear with low-cut tops or backless dresses.

I have to say that my favorite collection of this season’s Fashion Week (so far) is Sophie Theallet’s. While the boho-chic style is one of my favorites, I really enjoyed Theallet’s use of color. So many fall collections are filled with black and gray, but Theallet’s collection included a unique palette of reds, blues and golds. I particularly liked her coats. Most of the coats this Fall 2010 Fashion Week looked like potato sacks, but Theallet’s were very wearable, cut just below the waist with a variety of belts to tie them shut. I also appreciated her variety of dresses and skirts from long sleeve to sleeveless to maxi dresses. Not only were the clothes spectacular, but I thought that the ankle boots adorning each model were a nice finishing touch. And their tousled hair added to the spunky, boho theme. For more photos, check out the collection at Elle.com.

Yes, it’s that time of year again. The Fall/Winter 2010 Fashion Week is upon us, and two of the new “it” designers, Alexander Wang and Jason Wu, have surprised me yet again. Both designers have changed my opinion about their work in these latest collections, and not necessarily in a good way.

If you recall, I did not like Wang’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection in my Spring/Summer 2010 Fashion Week review. His jersey-football-inspired collection was too sporty for me. However, I think his latest collection is exquisite. While there are still some bare midriffs in this collection, I think it comes from a more stylish place. The intricate detail in his dresses and suits were tailored to fit, creating a fashionable working woman. And the high knee socks that created a recurring theme in his collection were a nice nod to the trends of the times. Unfortunately, Jason Wu was the one to hit and miss this time around. His Spring/Summer 2010 collection was full of color and life, but this latest collection was extremely unflattering. His over-sized bubble dresses and hobo-like jackets were not appealing, not to mention they made even the skinniest models look unattractive. So far, this fashion week has completely changed my views about these two designers. Now, I’m already excited for next season to see what they have in store for us. What did you think about the two designers?

Valentine’s Day is an excuse to look smoking hot — not that you really need one — but it’s certainly fun to dress up for special occasions. And, above all, Valentine’s Day is the night to look sexy. That’s why I created an outfit on Polyvore to show off some looks that I think would look great this Valentine’s season. I chose a sexy red dress for the day, but any cute cocktail dress or sexy top would do. Of course, it’s what’s underneath that counts on this holiday though. Whether you’re a panty, babydoll or corset kind of gal, I picked out some of my favorites of the season to show just how sexy you can look this Sunday. Of course, it wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without some sort of heart garnish. That’s why a simple pair of heart earrings or a heart necklace would show off your spirit without looking too cheesy. For suggestions on how to “set the mood” this Valentine’s Day, read 4 Ways to Set the Mood This Valentine’s Day.

I have to admit I’ve never been a vest person. When I was little, pullover vests that my mom made me wear were my worst enemy. And I couldn’t understand the craze when puffy vests came into style in the ’90s. It was as if several marshmallow Michelin men had take over the streets. However, I kind of like the latest vest trend. Designers have finally found a way to make vests work, whether they’re long and flowy or short and studded.

The long vests or (sleeveless sweaters) that drape over any outfit really do go with anything. I recently bought one with an uncertainty in the back of my head, but I’ve come to find that they add an extra element to any outfit. Lindsay Lohan (pictured above) is rockin’ this trend in a gray one that looks very similar to mine. I also like the shorter vests with a couple of studs on them that continue to adorn various hipsters to date. Here’s Beyonce in a studded vest that certainly shows off her diva ways. Maybe it’s the rocker look that I like, but these 21st century vests have certainly changed my mind about this once-hated piece of apparel.

I wanted to direct all of my readers to one of my favorite sites that I try and go to every day — not necessarily to shop — but to click. The Hunger Site is set up so that if you click on their “Click to Give-it’s FREE!” button, 1.1 cups of food are donated to the hungry. I know it sounds too good to be true, but it actually works. Once you click the button, the site displays ads from their site sponsors, and 100% of the advertisers’ money goes to fund programs that give food to the hungry. You can also donate money directly to help survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. So far, the site has raised $253,162 for immediate relief and health supplies towards Partners in Health, a non-governmental health care provider that’s been in Haiti for almost 25 years.

That’s not all you can do either. You can also shop on the site! The site has several clothes, purses, jewelry and other gift items that you can purchase. By purchasing from the site, the Hunger Site will fund an additional amount of food based on how much you buy. For example, I love this Priya Handmade Sundress (below), and I can get it for just $42.95. But more importantly, if I buy it, 50 cups of food will be donated to the hungry.

I definitely recommend checking out the site. The site’s 300 million visitors have given more than 500 million cups of food since the site began in June 1999. Whether or not you like the items they have for sale, just one extra click in your daily routine can help save lives. Don’t worry about forgetting to click because the site can send a daily reminder to your e-mail if you sign up for it in the top left hand corner of the main page. Does anyone else know any sites like this that they can recommend?

Are we ready for spring yet or what? With the winter well underway, here’s a bright and shining light to think about at the end of that dark, very snowy tunnel: Spring 2010 Fashion Trends. Each spring seems to get bolder and bolder, and this year is no exception. From bright colors to corsets to sporty wear to a possibly-Lady-Gaga-inspired “warrior” trend, this year’s spring and summer fashion trends cover such a large variety of styles that they may include just about anyone.

Tie Dye:

The seventies are still here to stay with a new tie-dye trend that’s becoming ever so popular. And not just a pick up a tie-dye shirt to take to the Bonnaroo Music Festival kind of tie dye. This trend is reaching new levels as designers incorporate tie dye into cocktail dresses and red carpet attire.

Corsets:

As I’ve been saying, the lingerie as outerwear trend is not going anywhere anytime soon. Corsets are being matched with skirts, shorts and everything in between. The best thing about corsets is you can dress them up or down. Match one with your favorite black skirt to wear to a wedding, or wear one with a pair of jeans for a night out with the gals.

Sporty:

Ever since Jason Wu unveiled his Spring/Summer 2010 collection, the Sports Fashion Trend has been well underway. The traditional football-inspired sportswear is the perfect garb for any personality. Whether you’re a tomboy or were the high school cheerleader, this trend has a sexy, sporty vibe that just about anyone can pull off. Think jersey shirts, jersey dresses and sports bras.

“Warrior” Fashion:

The fierce leather rocker look is still very in. But it’s evolved into something more. Designers have now created a new style that combines looks from the military, futuristic and tribal fashion trends. Think studs and chains combined with sequins and a fierce-looking military jacket and you may get a better picture. If you’re new to the trend, I suggest starting out small. Get a studded belt or a sharp-looking best with some metallic buttons and go from there.

These are just a few of the many fashion trends that are taking form for spring 2010. The new decade has clearly taken on an “anything goes” attitude in fashion. So, try some of the trends out and see what you like. This is the year of mixing and matching whatever you want. Wear black with brown. Don’t be scared to buy that all-sequined top. Let yourself be bold this 2010 whether it’s with bright colors, sexy corsets or warrior-themed outfits.

In the Set:
